Pittsburgh Mayor’s Wife Files for Divorce

According to the Pennsylvania Times Leader, Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl’s wife had filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Erin Ravenstahl claims in her six-page divorce filing that her marriage to the mayor is irretrievably broken.

Ravenstahl filed with the help of her divorce lawyer and submitted a two-page supplement to support her claim for alimony and child support. The official request for dissolution of marriage comes after almost two years of marital separation. The couple announced in 2009 that they were separating.

The couple were high school sweethearts who married in 2004. They have a 2-year-old son. Their relationship blossomed at North Catholic High School with joint interests in sports and a reserved approach to social life.

Ravenstahl works at a North Hills hair salon but claims in her divorce papers that she does not make enough money to support their son, she is asking a judge to grant her support payments. Ravenstahl graduated from Pittsburgh Beauty Academy and has held employment at several local hair salons.

The mayor’s official released a statement that the couple came to the difficult decision to file for divorce after careful consideration, and that hey remain friends. Ravenstahl was elected mayor in 2006, when he was City Council president and Mayor Bob O’Connor died of brain cancer. Ravenstahl finished O’Connor’s term and was re-elected for four more years. The couple announced their separation three weeks after Ravenstahl after winning re-election.
