Sarah McLachlan Relied on Friends, Family After Divorce

Divorced for three years now, Canadian singer Sarah McLachlan now feels better enough to talk about the effect that the end of her marriage had on her life. She said, “Coming to terms with the fact that my marriage was a failure was devastating and very difficult. I blamed myself for a lot of things. It took me a very long time to get over it.”  Couples in the entertainment industry and others with substantial assets may wish to speak to a Houston prenuptial agreement attorney before entering into marriage.

Like many who successfully cope with the difficult times of a divorce, McLachlan focused on the positive aspects of her life. She relied on her “amazing friends” and “great family” to keep moving forward, refusing to dwell on the past and bad feelings.

Exploring creative outlets and other passions are often effective ways for people to move on. McLachlan drew on this emotional period of her life to create her latest album, “Laws of Illusion.”  The divorce and the aftermath inspired two sings in particular – “U Want Me 2” and “Don’t Give Up on Us.”  A spouse considering a divorce may wish to speak with a Houston divorce attorney about effects that the divorce will have.
